Functional Medicine
Functional Medicine is a whole-body systematic approach to health care. It is patient-focused and not disease-focused. The body is an amazingly smart machine that does not make mistakes but does everything for a reason. As Functional Medicine practitioners, it is our job to investigate and find the answer to the question, why?
Applying the physiology of the body with practical biochemistry, a history, a physical exam, and any additional tests, we can find the underlying issue and treat it accordingly. For treatment, we utilize the latest research on supplements, natural health modalities, nutrition, and lifestyle to restore balance to the body’s physiological processes.
GlycoCheck
(Microvascular Assessment)
Dr. Grable uses an all-in-one digital microscope video camera that assesses your microvascular system. Your microvascular system is capillary size vessels and smaller, which make up 99% of your vascular system.
This is a non-invasive procedure that quantifies a patient’s capillary density, capillary blood volume, blood flow, red cell velocity, and the endothelial glycocalyx.
This new device provides imaging solutions based on a patented measurement system of the endothelial glycocalyx to provide a single overall health score. This is one more way Dr. Grable is able to find root problems to health issues.
Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology (AK), is a diagnostic system that evaluates a patient structurally, chemically, and emotionally. AK utilizes muscle testing with other standard methods of diagnosis. Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) is a form of biofeedback and when used correctly can be a vital assessment tool as a diagnostic mechanism to evaluate a patient.
Proper MMT involves a sensory component (input) and a motor component (output). This provides a real-time test through the musculoskeletal system to evaluate and monitor responses and changes within the patient’s nervous system. A specific MMT evaluates the status of the anterior horn motor neuron (neurons that affect skeletal muscles) and can be found to be facilitated (strong), conditionally inhibited (weak), or over-facilitated (hypertonic).
This feedback provides the necessary information to provide various treatment methods which include but are not limited to: metabolic/nutritional needs, lifestyle changes, chiropractic adjustments, trigger point therapy, cranial adjustments, exercises, and emotional techniques.
Lebowitz Intolerance Testing
Dr. Lebowitz has practiced the art and science of Applied Kinesiology for 35+ years and has taught for 28+ years. During that time, Dr. Lebowitz developed many techniques which are presently used by well over a thousand physicians in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. His research and innovation have brought much in the way of testing techniques and academics to alternative medicine in the fields of dysbiosis, food sensitivities, toxic metals, chemical and electromagnetic field sensitivity, biofilms, mycotoxins, and hypercoagulation, as well as neurological desensitization techniques. He also helped develop nutritional products that are used worldwide to treat these issues.
Dr. Grable has utilized this technique over the last seven years to help hundreds of patients. The Lebowitz protocol is the same protocol that helped treat his daughter when she contracted clostridium difficile (C-Diff) at 2 years old. This experience influenced and changed how Dr. Grable would treat and care for his patients.
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic focuses on the neuromuscular system without the use of drugs or surgery. There is an emphasis placed on the spine, due to its relationship with the nervous system. A vertebral restriction or misalignment of a spinal segment may often be the cause of altered neurologic function. Correcting these restrictions through adjustments (hands/tools) can restore neurologic function and in return: help muscles contract and relax appropriately, reduce or stop pain, increase mobility and range of motion, and bring balance back to the autonomic nervous system, to name a few.
The autonomic nervous system deals with our sympathetic system (fight or flight) and parasympathetic system (rest and digest). Most of our society, especially anyone dealing with an illness, will typically be sympathetic dominant. Receiving chiropractic care in conjunction with other treatments can have a synergistic effect.
There are several ways to adjust a patient. Dr. Grable understands that no two patients are the same and this understanding is reflected in how he adjusts each patient. Dr. Grable utilizes Applied Kinesiology with Manual Muscle Testing to determine what joints need to be adjusted. He uses a variety of methods to adjust that include: High and Low velocity adjustments, Diversified, Drop Table, Blocking, Long Axis Distraction, Respiration Adjustments, Activator, Vibra-Purcussor, and TheraStim. Dr. Grable adjusts patients of all ages from head to toe.
